Unisex Wedding Rings

Until very recently, most wedding rings and bands were unisex. This means that there was very little distinction in design as to what we could today consider to be wedding rings specifically designed for either men or women. Conventionally, a unisex wedding ring is a traditional, simple gold band which is appropriate for either a man or woman to wear. The only real distinction between the wedding bands would be the width of wedding ring selected.

With a wealth of different wedding ring designs and metals now on the market, there is much more selection for the couple to be when selecting the wedding ring which they will wear for the rest of their lives. Modern wedding ring designers are more aware of niche markets and couples wanting rings to reflect their personal tastes, rather than just sticking to a traditional plain gold band.

However, there are still some couples out there who select unisex rings for their big day. Many couples like to choose complimentary wedding rings, meaning that both the bride and groom’s wedding rings hold similar aesthetic appeal. For some couples, choosing the same design ring is important as it shows a complete unity between them.

Today’s unisex wedding band designs are far removed from the conventional gold bands of old. These days couples can choose unisex wedding rings which incorporate very unique design elements which fit their personal tastes. Unisex rings also come in a variety of different metal types, such as tungsten or platinum. These wedding rings tend to be most durable and are also hypoallergenic, which is beneficial to those out there with specific metal allergies.

Couples choosing to purchase and wear unisex rings are on the rise. More and more couples seem to want rings which really symbolize their unity by selecting complementary wedding rings and bands. Even though the desire for unisex wedding bands which both men and women can wear has declined some over recent decades, this new shift is insuring that unisex rings are coming back into style.
