There is nothing as simply beautiful as a diamond, and a diamond wedding ring is the most sought after piece of jewelry. Diamond rings can be an investment, financially and emotionally as this is the symbol of commitment. Diamond wedding rings have a deep history, and inasmuch as many have claimed to be the heritage that began the tradition, there are many varying stories. Let's begin with the most believed beginnings of the tradition of gifting with a diamond wedding ring.

The first diamonds are believed to have had their start in India almost 3,000 years ago, and were given high value. First, they were valued because of their ability to reflect light. Second, they were believed to have powers that could fend off evil spirits, and thus, they were used for protection during battles. During the dark ages, people thought that diamonds had a medical purpose to them. Many books were written on how to heal the body and wounds with diamonds. Some people would even swallow diamonds in the hope that it would cure their bodies magically.

It was not until the middle ages when we started to see diamonds being valued more for their worth than there "magical" abilities. It was also this time when we began to see a mens diamond wedding ring as well as womens diamond wedding ring appear in artifacts. And while it has not been proven that diamond wedding rings are magical, there is the element of magic when placed on one's finger.
