American Idol news! Since the first blockbuster season of the beloved musical reality televisions show, celebrity news junkies have been eating up gossip centering around American Idol contestants. Just out on Twitter, the young twenty-two year old singer and songwriter Jason Castro, was married this past weekend to girlfriend Mandy Mayhall, an Oklahoma State student. Reportedly they have known each other since high school, but just began dating in 2008. He kept Mandy a hidden secret for sometime before eventually presenting her to the world after a performance on the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet.
Castro announced the marriage via his Twitter account with this Tweet: “Yesterday I married the girl of my dreams… It couldn’t have been more perfect! Now, honeymoooon!!!
” Apparently it could have been a little more perfect, Castro also announced via Twitter that he was suffering from the flu and it lasted through his wedding night!
You don’t have to win first place in the competition to make the headlines. Fourth runner up on the seventh season of American Idol, he wowed the impossible Simon Cowell when he sang his own version of Hallelujah’ by Jeff Buckley on the show, but unfortunately it was not enough to win the grand prize. Castro proposed to Mayhall on Halloween just prior to the kick-off of the Oklahoma/Kansas State football game on Saturday, in Norman, Oklahoma. Because it was Halloween, they were wearing Beauty and the Beast costumes. When he popped the question, Castro got down on one knee to propose, and instead of a verbal proposition, he presented Mayhall with a pumpkin that was carved to read, “marry me?”
This will be a big year for Castro. Not only is he now married, but is set to release an EP titled, “The Love Uncompromised,” with Atlantic Records. He will begin a national tour later this month after he recovers from the flu and spends some time with Mayhall on their honeymoon. Castro then plans to release a full-length album this spring.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in their hometown of Rockville Texas, just outside Houston. There are very few details of the wedding ceremony and reception, but the dreadlocked crooner sported a traditional black tux and bow tie. Mandy Mayhall matched her bridesmaid’s dresses to the Groomsmen’s dark attire and selected simple black fitted strapless numbers with red sashes around the waist. Her gown was beautifully simple in an ivory satin. It was also strapless, and hugged her body until it flared slightly out just above her knees. Since the wedding was just this past weekend, there may be further details of the ceremony released soon.

A note of congratulations is due Maggie Gyllenhaal and all and fellow actor Peter Sarsgaard, who just recently decided it was time to tie the knot and make their relationship official. The couple have reported they were married in a very private and intimate ceremony in Italy this past weekend. Sources close to the couple said that the ceremony was small and private, true to the character of the couple and the way they conduct their public lives.
Actor, screenwriter and supposedly funny guy Vince Vaughn has become the latest Hollywood star (and for Vince we apply that term lightly) to become engaged. Vince and his girlfriend, Canadian born realtor Kyla Weber, made the official announcement last month. The couple have been together since shortly after Vince’s brief relationship with actress Jennifer Aniston ended. Vince, 38, and the Canadian beauty,29, have been by many accounts inseparable since the two were introduced by a mutual friend. Sources close to the couple have said Vince took the old fashioned approach to the proposal, dropping to one knee and asking Kyla for her hand in marriage.
People Magazinehas confirmed that box office superstar Harrison Ford finally popped the question to his long time sweetheart and fellow ‘red carpeteer’, Calista Flockheart. This is the third time Harrison, aged 66, has decided to take the big plunge. For Calista, 44, it will be her first time down the isle after a few failed attempts at happiness.
